DEUTEROCANONICAL BOOKS OF THE BIBLE (APOCRYPHA)

The "deuterocanonical" or "Apocryphal" books are part of the Greek Septuagint and are included in Catholic, Orthodox and even some Jewish Bibles, but not in most Protestant Bibles. Below is an introduction that explains why. Then there is a list of these books, with links to them in the New American Bible. This is an excellent translation and also has very good introductions to each book and footnotes for each chapter. Note that Esther and Daniel are included because parts of them are found in the Septuagint but not in Jewish or Protestant Bibles.
