PLAN OF THE PROGRAM

The mission of the Ministry Formation Program is to train Catholic deaf adults who wish to serve the Church as active lay ministers.

The four-year training program begins in September and concludes in May. Each weekend runs from Friday evening through Sunday morning.

The Ministry Formation Program session takes place in the Chicago area. It is open to applicants in the neighboring states that do not have a training program for Catholic deaf adults.

There will be a series of professional instructors with skills in communicating and signing.

SCHEDULE FOR 2001-2002

COST FOR 2001-2002: $600 per person

2. YEAR II: DISCERNMENT
• Introduction to the Bible
• Old Testament
• New Testament
• Church History
• Spirituality/Prayer
• Church Issues
3. YEAR III: MINISTRY
• Sacraments
• Liturgy
• Competent Minister
• Pastoral Skills
• Pastoral Counseling
• Minister As Evangelizer
4. YEAR IV.: INTERNSHIP
• (3 weekends and field work required)

A certificate of completion will be presented at the end of the entire training program.

The certificate of completion of the four-year ministry training program will enable candidates to work in any one of the following ministries:

• Bible Study
• Care Ministry
• Evangelization
• Family Ministry
• Liturgical Minstry
• Prayer Groups
• R.C.I.I.A.
• Religious Education
• Sacramental Preparations
• Social Service Ministry
• Youth Ministry
